Ships and submarines are the main part of the action-thriller “Hunter Killer“. In this particular shot, you can see how we used footage of a ship of the Canadian Navy to transform it into a Russian one with the help of Maya, Houdini, Katana, and Nuke.

“This is a heavily armed Sovremenny class destroyer, which in addition to standard weapons is also equipped with long-range missiles and is designed to combat submarines. To meet the needs of the script and the director we had to move a few things around though, so it is not a complete replica.”
